Art & Design Friday

Erik Nordenankar
Erik Nordenankar, a student at Beckmans (a design school in Sweden) had drawn his own portrait using a GPS unit he placed in a briefcase and then sent it around the world to specific locations. The self portrait becomes apparent when you follow the journey of the briefcase.
Brilliant!

Tech Wednesday

Suissa Computers
I start seeing more and more beautiful home-made computers. Maybe this trend is something for the giant computer manufacturers to consider? A computer doesn't have to be an ugly plastic box. (although I'm very happy with the look of my mac)
Suissa Computers has started manufacturing beautiful computer systems. The one pictured above is just one of many models they offer.

Reflection Sunday

Seeing Yellow
Did you know that when you print on a color laser printer, it's likely that you are also printing a pattern of invisible yellow dots? These marks exist to allow the printer companies and governments to track and identify you.
To find out more, and what you can do to make your voice heard against this hidden form of control, read more here

The Telectroscope Project

On May 20th these two monstrous drillbits appeared in both London and Brooklyn, NY.
The telectroscope project is the brainchild of artist Paul St George and it lets people communicate visually across continents and will be open for the public until June 15th.

Stranger Than Paradise
This year the Cannes Film Festival will be presenting director Jim Jarmusch with a lifetime achievement award (a.k.a. the Carrosse d'Or or Golden Coach).
This movie won him the 'Golden Camera' award in Cannes back in 1984.

Tech Wednesday

Jack PC
The future of computing?
The picture above is of an actual computer that will be released June 15th, 2008.
It fits in the wall socket, has limited capacity, but more than enough to surf the web. Hopefully we will see more development of this idea. Remote harddrives for example?

Music Tuesday

Белые Флаги Зажигайте Медленно
Даже если пролетариат возьмет власть в свои руки, весна все равно достанется нам, а цели войны останутся целями войны
For those of you who don't read Russian, the translated name of the band is 'Set the white flags on fire slowly', and the name of their album is called 'Even If The Proletariat Takes The Power Into Its Own Hands, The Spring Will Be Left For Us, And The Aims Of War Will Remain The Aims Of War'.
